What You’ll Do
- Ensures total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP) to maintain the highest production standards and ensure facility compliance.
- Maintains high level of customer service and positive donor experience in line with company values and culture.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area to ensure a clean and professional environment.
- Reviews and confirms donor identification and maintains donor confidentiality per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Sets up and prepares all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedure.
- Labels and ensures each unit and samples are labeled accurately.
- Executes venipunctures and plasma collection, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Operates the automated plasmapheresis machines, including response and evaluation of all machine alarms and alerts, donor adverse events, document exceptions, etc.
- Monitors donor conditions, employing techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and the quality of plasma product.
- Maintains proper ratio to ensure donor safety and quality of product.
- Disconnects donor and manages disposal of biohazard waste and contaminated equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and replaces equipment as needed.
- Maintains accurate documentation, including Plasmapheresis Machine Logs.
- Reports unsafe situations and conditions to management.
- Maintains/stocks adequate inventory and replenishes supplies on plasma carts.
- Drives training efficiencies to ensure timeliness and compliance; troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform routine quality checks on equipment.
- Performs other job-related tasks as assigned and maintains a high level of customer service and donor experience.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- State-specific certification or licensing as required.
- Minimum three (3) months’ experience in a medical or healthcare environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Completed training documentation appropriate for duties prior to performing duties independently.
- Strong customer service and effective communication skills required.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to document accurately.
- Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and operating manuals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions; reliable attendance and punctuality required.
- Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed.
- Ability to perform venipuncture.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; lift up to 35 pounds; bend, stoop, or kneel.
- Ability to use PPE and perform tasks in an environment with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Ability to view computer screens for extended periods and work in cold environments as required.
