Overview

Join to apply for the Overnight Custodian role at University of Virginia. The UVA Facilities Management Department seeks an Overnight Custodian for a Sunday - Thursday 11:00pm - 7:30am shift in North Grounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned areas in clean and orderly condition.
• Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, etc. Apply proper methods and materials. May mix own cleaning solutions.
• Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment and keep inventories of supplies, requesting additional supplies as needed.
• Report all repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping-related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
• May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing bulbs, or more complex tasks including operating cleaning equipment such as buffers or waxers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic housekeeping experience including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning carpets, cleaning bathrooms and removal of trash is preferred.
• Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and directions, and adhere to regulatory guidelines in daily work.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic computer, tablet, or smartphone usage and the ability to submit electronic timesheets.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position pays $15/hr and includes UVA benefits. This position qualifies for a $2.50/hr shift differential.

Physical Demands

The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties as a housekeeper, such as dusting, mopping, etc. This job requires a range of continual movement, including walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting.
