Position Summary

The Overnight Parking Host is responsible for overseeing the onsite check-in and overall stay experience for overnight parking guests at the White Salmon Base Area. This position requires living on site with self provided weather-appropriate RV or similar self-contained vehicle that meets company requirements, and conducting morning rounds, as well as monitoring the lot during overnight hours to ensure the safety, security, and satisfaction of guests.

The role involves greeting and assisting overnight parking customers, enforcing rules and regulations, coordinating with other departments to address logistical needs, and reporting any unusual or suspicious activity. The Overnight Parking Host works closely with department supervisors to support smooth operations in a dynamic environment and provides input for longer-term department improvements.

The Overnight parking host reports directly to the Overnight Parking Supervisor, Base Area Assistant Supervisor and Mountain Manager(s) each day as well as coordinates with the employee lodge staff, and loader operators.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Starting Compensation

$18.66/hr DOE

General Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and respectful customer service
  • Respond to customer communication via email and in person in a professional manner and timely manner
  • Regularly monitor department operational supply inventory, place orders as needed and/or communicate needs with the Base Area Assistant Manager
  • Provide logistic assessment and recommendations for smooth operational flow for check in and check out of vehicles.
  • Work with the Parking Supervisor, Base Area Assistant Manager, and administrative departments to train to consistent standards for parking related to overnight spaces during the day and during the evening.
  • Assist with projects assigned by Mountain Manager and Base Area Assistant Manager, as needed
  • Support and provide assistance to other departments, as needed
  • Provide feedback regarding customer concerns, comments, and operational ways to enhance efficiencies.
  • Have a working knowledge of Mt. Baker Ski Area Mountain policies and procedures as well as familiarity of ski area facilities and services available
  • Stay informed of pertinent daily information and relaying relevant information to employees and visitors
  • Monitor parking areas for proper vehicle placement and rule compliance.
  • Perform regular patrols of the parking lot to ensure safety and prevent unauthorized access
  • Respond to customer inquiries or issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of vehicle occupancy, incidents, or maintenance needs.
  • Report suspicious activity, security concerns, or emergencies to management or local authorities.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the parking area.
  • Operate gates, lighting systems, or other facility equipment as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Assess snow conditions and communicate with operators when plowing is necessary for overnight parking needs.
  • Maintain and clean parking lot restrooms.
  • Communicate the needs of the loader drivers to the customers in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Perform work duties in accordance with business policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Follow safety guidelines as described in the Accident Prevention Plan and as trained.
  • Report safety concerns directly to the department manager, Director of Mountain Operations, and General Manager as trained.
  • Actively participate in fostering a positive safety culture through words and actions.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge and Abilities

  • Work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of administrative processes.
  • Experience with de-escalation techniques or training.
  • Experience in driving safely in wintry conditions.
  • Primarily outdoors, with exposure to weather elements.
  • Nighttime and weekend availability required.
  • May require the use of radios, flashlights, or mobile devices for communication and record-keeping.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Bending, twisting, lifting, and moving items throughout the day
  • Ability to work outside in inclement winter weather
  • Ability to lift and move 60 pounds (or more depending on the task)
  • Standing and or sitting for long periods
  • Climbing and descending stairs
  • Shoveling and moving snow
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary

  • Ability to complete and pass Mt. Baker Ski Area Vehicle Training.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to move systems forward and bring new ideas to the table.
  • Willingness to live in the White Salmon parking lot in a self provided, self contained vehicle, trailer or RV.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must have a self contained RV, trailer or vehicle to live in the White Salmon parking lot
