Position: Overnight Maintenance Person at One Ocean Resort (Atlantic Beach, FL). This role involves maintaining hotel equipment efficiently and safely, responding to engineering service calls, and assisting with guest opportunities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a portable radio and stay in constant communication with the Front Desk; respond to engineering service calls with priority to guest requests; maintain hotel equipment in an efficient, safe, and accident-free manner.
  • Valet guest vehicles as needed.
  • Respond to guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical, and painting of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Monitor and maintain all engineering functions when full engineering staff is not available (e.g., weekends and evenings).
  • Respond to emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters, and power failures; notify the appropriate authorities.
  • Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is in working order; clean and maintain all equipment and work areas.
  • Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and meter readings, and maintain logs; document parts used and parts needed to be purchased.
  • Handle elevator breakdowns and complete work order request forms on a daily and timely basis.
  • Report unsafe conditions to leadership.
  • Maintain a valid driver\'s license as you may be called upon to valet guest vehicles.
  • May be called upon to assist with guest opportunities.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or special courses in building maintenance and construction.

Experience: A minimum of 6 months of successful experience in a similar position.

Knowledge/Skills: Ability to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing equipment; perform carpentry, repair work, construction and renovation; may require ability to drive a pick-up truck and snow removal equipment; ability to maintain logs and records; professional presentation; ability to work in a team and to make independent decisions.

  • Ability to inspect and maintain equipment.
  • Ability to respond on portable radio to base station and guests.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying to respond to requests for service and repairs anywhere in the hotel or parking lot.
  • Frequent bending and kneeling to perform inspections and repairs.
  • 100% mobility to respond quickly to emergencies; potential continuous standing.
  • Climbing stairs (approximately 90 steps, 20% of 8 hours) and climbing ladders (approximately 8 feet, 10% of 8 hours).
  • Driving company vehicles (approx. 10% of time; up to 100% during snow emergencies).

Environment

Indoor exposure to temperature variations; outdoor exposure to all weather elements. Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and heavy lifting.
