Shift: Full Time, 3rd shift | Location: Canton, MS | Department: Operations | Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

Summary: The candidate will prepare and sort materials or products for recycling. The baler operator controls and maintains an automatic machine that bales recyclable materials. Primary duties include calibrating the machine, observing meters during operation, and removing wet bales from the machine.

Responsibilities

  • May use liftin machinery to help move and sort waste
  • May pick materials from a moving conveyor
  • May sort waste and remove non-recyclable items
  • May inspect materials for any contamination
  • May use ride-on equipment to clean factory floors, pick up debris, sweep and mop designated warehouse areas, and clean handrails & guardrails; other janitorial duties may apply
  • Loading boxed parts onto a pallet and storing them
  • Other cleaning duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Must pass drug screen and background check
  • A strong work ethic
  • The ability to work alone or within a team is a must
  • Training will be provided

Education/Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Six months of facilities experience preferred
  • Six months of manufacturing experience preferred

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk for long distances, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with arms; climb stairs or ladder or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear, possibly in a noisy environment. Must be able to wear PPE such as safety glasses and safety-toed boots. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
