Overview PetVet is hiring an Overnight Veterinary Technician! Position Details Role: Overnight Veterinary Technician Status: Full-time Salary: Negotiable and based on experience with shift differential, Sign-on bonus for LVTs with a current license Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 5 days off Responsibilities Overnight Technician/Assistant are primary caregivers for the pet(s) within our hospital. Record-keeping and communication skills are a must. The position involves animal husbandry and janitorial tasks. Responsible for the safety, care, direct supervision, feeding, cleaning, and exercising of dogs in our facility. Must be adaptable, able to read behavioral cues, be responsible, and self-motivated. A minimum of three years veterinary experience required. Physical Requirements Position requires the ability to walk, bend, stoop and/or work in a bent position, and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day. Frequently use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. Use strength or agility in restraining stronger, more active animals. Frequently lift and/or move up to a minimum of 40 pounds. Occasionally handle dogs weighing up to or over 150 lbs with assistance. Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under fast-paced conditions and in an outdoor setting. Must possess visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions. Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give information in person or over the phone. Qualifications Current and valid license as a certified veterinary technician or a minimum of 3 years of experience. Working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and veterinary terminology. Working knowledge of common animal diseases and their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment, and prevention. Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in all veterinary procedures. Knowledge of sterilization and aseptic technique. Critical thinking. Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches to problems. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments. Self-motivated. Additional Requirements Applicants must be LVT, RVT, or CVT or have a minimum of three years of experience and enjoy working with pets, have a friendly and easygoing demeanor, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills. Must be team-oriented with a strong work ethic, initiative, responsibility, and a desire to excel. The ideal candidate is flexible in scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Reliability and dependability are a must.
