POSITION SUMMARY: The Phlebotomy Instructor is responsible for developing and continually improving a comprehensive training program, including instructional and assessment materials, competencies, procedures, and learning resources in both manual and electronic formats. The training program will cover clinical phlebotomy techniques and classroom education to prepare new and existing team members for clinical phlebotomy, other lab specimen collections, and EKG procedures as necessary.

Compensation: Expected pay for this position is $18.98 - $22.34/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and continually improve a comprehensive phlebotomy training program, including instructional and assessment materials, competencies, procedures, and learning resources in both manual and electronic formats.
  • Deliver training on clinical phlebotomy techniques and related classroom education to prepare staff for phlebotomy, other lab specimen collections, and EKG procedures as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program
  • Experience: Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program; 2 years’ experience as a phlebotomist
  • Licensure/Certification: Must obtain Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) certification within one year of hire
  • Licensure/Certification: Must obtain BLS Certification from the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire

Other Skills/Knowledge

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or certification in phlebotomy-related disciplines; one year of phlebotomy experience may be considered
  • EKG Technician, MOA, CMA, PCT/PCL, CNA, EMT, healthcare studies, nursing, or ASCP certification with other relevant experience

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience performing phlebotomy in a hospital or large clinic
  • Phlebotomy experience across varied service lines (inpatient, Nursing Home, Ambulatory, etc.)
