Overview

Phlebotomist Floater – Location: Avon, CT 06001. Shift: Float; must be able to float between Avon, Bloomfield, Unionville, Bristol, Plainville and be available and flexible between 5:30am-5pm Mon-Fri, and alternate Saturday.

Responsibilities

  • The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients, both as part of their routine health and for insights into health decisions.
  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • Maintain direct patient contact and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood in a skilled, safe, and accurate manner.
  • Provide coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles and ensure daily activities of the Patient Service Center, Mobile, Long Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence and confidentiality of patient information. May be assigned to work in a doctor’s office, a patient service center, house call environment, long term care, or as business needs dictate.
  • Lead one or more PSR on site when stepping in for a Phlebotomist III- Float; act as coach, mentor, instructor, resource advisor for new employees and provide onboarding services to new clients.
  • Act as point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
  • May focus on high complexity and/or high volume practices requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills, with enhanced customer-facing communications, problem solving, and collaboration with Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics as needed.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

  • Five years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
