JOB STATUS: UNTIL FILLED

QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess required certification or license and skill in Phlebotomy. Five years of experience in the field is preferred. Must be knowledgeable of (OSHA) and various effective teaching techniques for all levels of basic adult skills and testing preparation. Ability to maintain and establish work schedule for evening/night courses. Must be sensitive to the student population, flexible, and able to follow policies and procedures. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have effective organizational and planning skills. Must be knowledgeable of creative, innovative, non-traditional teaching strategies that have proven successful with students from diverse backgrounds and performing at different academic levels. Some computer skills with Microsoft Word, Internet, and Intranet access are required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Prepares student semester reports, maintains student daily records, monitors and records student progress using formal and informal methods. Provides academic advising to students, assists the Instructional Specialist, and participates in department trainings, meetings, and graduation. Provides students with employment counseling and job placement assistance. Instructs students on how to apply their knowledge to real-life situations. Motivates students, in part by responding to their individual learning styles and cultural backgrounds. Participates in the orientation, registration, and assessment process. Completes annual professional development requirements established by the Richmond Adult Technical Center. Participates in required meetings and workshops. Maintains confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Performs other duties as required.

CONDITIONS OF WORK: Performs professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students in a specialized subject. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and light lifting up to 10 pounds. Effective verbal and written communication skills for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level, and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
