Position Summary:

Assists the Head Coach in delivering effective sports/activity coaching to K-12 secondary school children. Provides supervision, training, and coaching to student athletes as assigned. Develops individuals based on their abilities and encourages sustained activity levels. Delivers core movement and sport-specific skills training. This position reports to the Head Coach.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructs and coaches K-12 students on sports fundamentals. Works with the coaching staff to set rules, policies, and regulations.
  2. Assists the Head Coach with equipment management and coordinating try-outs.
  3. Helps coordinate and supervise practice schedules and athlete/team supervision.
  4. Guides student athletes in making appropriate decisions about further participation based on their abilities.
  5. Collaborates with staff to coordinate opportunities and initiatives.
  6. Works with partners to monitor the impact of programs and promote healthy lifestyles.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned to support these services.

Job Requirements:

  • Must complete the GHSA “PREPARE/First Aid” and “Principles for Coaching” exams within three months of starting. Coaches cannot coach until both exams are successfully completed.
  • Understanding of GHSA rules and regulations.
  • Must meet policies and regulations per GHSA Constitution and By-Laws. Recommended age is 21 or older.
  • Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision, prioritize effectively, and demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Required to pass the Georgia High School Association Coaching exam.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions, training procedures, and injury prevention.
  • Regular contact with internal and external personnel, with decision-making responsibilities for moderate issues. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Responsible for supervising athletes, equipment, and staff, with high accountability.
  • Work environment includes office settings, school grounds, and stadiums.
  • Frequent travel for off-site competitions and training.
  • Physical effort required 70% or more outdoors, including moderate lifting depending on sport.
