Overview
Job Description
Conducts basic level monitor and remedial surveys to comply with DOT 192 Subpart I - Requirements for Corrosion Control. Assists higher grade Corrosion Control employees in troubleshooting and proposing remedial actions to restore cathodic protection levels to company facilities. Provides locating services, as required. Performs construction activities relating to corrosion control, as needed. Assists with gas emergency response. Performs activities in connection with drip surveys and water outages. Operates company vehicles.
You Will
- Perform appropriate basic corrosion surveys to evaluate, obtain and restore cathodic protection levels on company facilities.
- Assist higher grade employees in performing remedial corrosion surveys.
- Identify atmospheric corrosion and other AOCs.
- Assist in performing activities in connection with drip surveys and inspections.
- Locate and mark underground gas facilities as required.
- May provide assistance during gas emergencies.
- Mentor and help train other Corrosion Control Testers.
- Perform minor maintenance to company facilities such as meter build-ups, condulets, test wires, and test/drip boxes including, but not limited to, chipping out paved over test stations, using hand tools to clean out test stations or remove debris, replace wire nuts or repair wire connections, install 1 lb. "spike-style" anodes on meter risers, etc.
- Produce hard copy and electronic files of records and documents.
- Operate traffic control vehicle and use traffic control devices as needed.
- Ability to communicate as a Company representative in a professional manner with homeowners regarding the nature of the work and in response to questions by inquisitive residents.
- Perform, as directed, other duties as assigned.
In addition to the activities described above
May be assigned to related business support and administrative activities (e.g. backend meter processing, backend corrosion processing, backend leak/damager prevention processing, peer safety observations, vehicle clean-out, cross functional training activities, etc.).
You Have
- High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must successfully complete and pass all prerequisites including but not limited to Criteria pre-test, the Corrosion Control Tester Qualification School, all required Operation Qualification exams, all review schools and field clearances.
- Must qualify for Corrosion Control Technician I within 30 months of accepting a Corrosion Control Tester position.
- Must have basic drawing and map reading skills.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Shift Work: As Required
