Salary and Qualifications
Salary Range: P1: $54,600 - $76,500; P2: $68,600 - $96,000
Note for Salary: This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate's qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors.
Job Description
Job Family Description: Engineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.
Discipline Description: Engineering - Multidiscipline personnel typically own a multidiscipline engineering related work scope. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.
Responsibilities
- The Engineering Organization is looking for entry level engineers to develop conventional solutions to technical task objectives within various SRNS facility engineering organizations.
- Learn SRNS and specific Department/Facility systems and requirements for accomplishing tasks.
- Assist more senior technical personnel in performing related activities in more complex tasks.
- Discipline specific ownership and maintenance of various systems including: Nuclear Chemical and Industrial Unit Operations; Industrial Mechanical systems (Nuclear and Non-nuclear HVAC, Rotating Equipment); Instrumentation and Control Systems; Utilities (Power Distribution, Steam, Water, Compressed Gases); Civil/Structural (Buildings, Roads, Bridges, Dams); Fire Protection Systems.
- Perform day-to-day tasks such as: work directly with operations and maintenance personnel to maintain system operability; System Configuration Control including minor design development, component replacement, facility walkdowns, drawing reviews/updates, procedure development/review/approval, preventive maintenance identification.
- Usage of Federal/National Codes and Standards; work package/system maintenance review and approval; collaborate with Design or Project Management on large-scale designs and projects.
- Operational Technology Engineering opportunities in Process Systems, Process Controls, Web App Development, and Simulation & Modeling.
- Recent graduates may be placed in the Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) with one-on-one career development and collocation with other new hires for exposure to different facilities and site work processes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- P1: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or relevant field; equivalencies considered.
- P2: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or relevant field plus at least two years of experience in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field; equivalencies considered.

Security Clearance Information: SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review, which may include checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and education verifications. Positions may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as background results, dual citizenship, and taxes may impact clearance eligibility.
