Responsibilities

  • Maintains thorough documentation related to program operations, injury trends, compliance, and relevant sections of departmental and Sports Medicine handbooks.
  • Oversees maintenance and safe operation of all strength and conditioning equipment; collaborates with facilities staff on equipment evaluation and acquisition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of Georgetown Athletics
  • Implements Sports Performance programs to enhance the Student-Athlete performance in a positive manner while also focusing on injury prevention.
  • Monitors and evaluates progress and adjusting to accommodate performance strategies and goals.
  • Hires, supervises, and works alongside strength and conditioning staff to create and deliver programs for 30 varsity intercollegiate sports during pre-season, in-season, and off-season periods.
  • Schedules weight room and cardio space usage for varsity teams.
  • Directs, motivates, and monitors safe and effective training sessions for teams.
  • Collaborates with Sports Medicine to accommodate injured student-athletes and ensure safe progression.
  • Ensures all programs comply with NCAA legislation and are conducted with the highest standards of safety, risk management, and injury prevention.
  • Facilitates the use of performance technology and data analytics to assess, monitor, and enhance individual and team performance.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in social and academic program events.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of the NSCS and CSCCa.
  • Maintains supervision of the Volunteer, Internship, and College-Level Internship programs.
  • Creates and organizes an effective and comprehensive Sports Performance program to adhere to the Student-Athletes, Sports Team, and Sports Coaches goals.

Work Interactions

The Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance reports directly to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations. This position manages the Sports Performance unit which consists of a number of sports performance coaches. This position has been designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree - Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of strength and conditioning experience, preferably at NCAA Division I level
  • Holding a current certification in one or both of the NCAA preferred certifications - NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC
  • Holding a current certification in First Aid, CPR/AED.
  • Preferred holding at least one additional relevant certification such as; NASM, USAW, NSCA TSAC, ISSA, NCSF.
  • Experience coaching proper technique in weight lifting, speed, agility, plyometrics, and obility drills and knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Exercise Science, anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and psychology.
  • Possesses strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic administration.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
