Young Men’s Christian Association of Central Ohio

At the YMCA of Central Ohio, we believe in building strong spirits, minds, and bodies for all. We are looking for a group fitness instructor to lead engaging classes such as bootcamp, core conditioning, and AMRAP. This role is about more than just teaching—it’s about inspiring members, building connections, and creating a safe and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Evening hours are available Monday through Thursday from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, prepares, and delivers class routines as directed by the supervisor that meet all necessary components and safe guidelines in accordance with current accepted practices of exercise physiology.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Engages the members and supports them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
  • Maintains valid national certification specific to the class format they are delivering at all times and keeps a working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Records accurate class attendance and maintains a minimum of 60% target attendance with continual growth.
  • Instructs a minimum of 2 classes per week (8/month), including at least one sub shift per quarter, and secures a substitute instructor when needed.
  • Begins and ends class at the scheduled time; sets up equipment as needed and assists members in cleaning equipment before and after class.
  • Maintains equipment and keeps the group exercise area clean.
  • Participates in Community Outreach campaigns and shares announcements as directed by supervisor.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Maintains valid national certification specific to the class format being taught at all times.
  • Working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
