February Winter Conditioning Run: 6+ miles - Discovery Park Job at Mountaineersb
Mountaineersbooks, Seattle, WA, United States, 98127
Instructor Availability: FULL (2 capacity)
Hiking and Running Details
We aim for an average pace of 4 mph: moderate to fast (depending on group comfort) uphill and 4.5-5.0 mph on straightaway and downhill sections. The goal is for everyone to run at a conversational pace, meaning you can talk in complete sentences without gasping, breathe easily through your nose, and maintain an average heart rate typically below 140 bpm (75% of max heart rate). You should not be huffing and puffing.
Meeting Details
Meet at 8:30 AM at Discovery Park, East Parking Lot (off 36th Avenue West). After introductions, there will be a route description and current trail conditions. No passes are required. Toilets are available near the starting point at the Discovery Park Visitor Center.
Directions
From 15th Ave W, just south of the Ballard Bridge, go west on W Emerson Place. After crossing the railroad tracks, turn right onto Gilman Ave W. In a few blocks, Gilman changes to W Government Way. Just beyond 36th Ave W, enter Discovery Park and turn into the second driveway on the left (the first is a one-way exit). This leads to the East Parking Lot near the Visitor Center. For bus travelers, Metro Route 33 stops on W Government Way just east of the park.
