Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor - Buildings and Grounds and Waste Management. The successful candidate is responsible for supervising the Buildings and Grounds and Waste Management staff, meeting with contractor representatives to discuss and resolve cleaning and window cleaning issues, supervising the setup and strike for School of Medicine events on and off campus, and providing departmental coverage during off hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures the consistent delivery of cleaning and window cleaning services throughout NYU Langone Health system: Main Campus, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and West Chester offsite buildings.
- Meets with clients to coordinate special cleaning requests. Is conversant with and explains to customers the details of the cleaning process. Processes invoices and maintains department records.
- Ensures that the cleaning and window cleaning specifications are current and relevant. Meets with the contractor representative on a daily basis to review and discuss cleaning and window cleaning performance.
- Meets with clients to evaluate satisfaction with contract specifications and contractor performance. Responds to user complaints and addresses all issues on a timely basis. Assists with invoice processing and payment. Assists in preparing the annual operating budget for cleaning and window cleaning.
- Participates in planning and implementation of new programs and developing new procedures. Responds to requests from the Medical Center community via Aware Manager and coordinates service with contractor.
- Establishes work schedules for the Buildings and Grounds and waste handling personnel and monitors work performance. Defines the expected outcome and time of completion clearly. Communicates the objective of the assignment. Institutes appropriate follow-up to ensure that the desired outcome is reached.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, in addition to a minimum of three years supervisory experience. Working knowledge of cleaning and maintenance requirements for hospital and biomedical research facilities. Strong verbal, written and organizational skills are necessary. Should have experience in personal computer use and database management.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $84,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
