About This Role

R. R. Cassidy is a local heavy construction company seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator. The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic and be knowledgeable in troubleshooting various heavy equipment product lines.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Operate and monitor the performance of heavy construction equipment (e.g., bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, excavators, marsh buggies, forklifts, shovels).
  • Learn and follow safety regulations; take actions to avoid hazards or obstructions (such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects).
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, position or move loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
  • Align machines and equipment with reference stakes and guidelines, following hand signals from other workers.
  • Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using loaders, excavators, skid steers, shovels, or other equipment.
  • Perform specialized work using equipment such as pile drivers, dredging rigs, drillers, or concrete pumpers.
  • Load/unload trucks requiring lifting 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the equipment, facility, and job site; support the field labor team as needed.

What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment.
  • Preferred: experience in construction, civil, or foundation work.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, skid steers, forklifts) and to troubleshoot maintenance across multiple equipment types.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and to travel for extended periods.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Good communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; work well independently and in a team.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with basic tools and construction equipment; must be eligible to work in the United States; ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
