The Town of Lunenburg’s Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator.

Job Duties

This position performs a variety of duties associated with the maintenance, repair and construction of DPW assets, including but not limited to:

• Operating a wide variety of vehicles including trucks, plows, tractors, backhoes, front end loaders and similar equipment, using power driven and hand tools, plowing, minor service maintenance to vehicles, excavation, tree work.
• Must be available to perform work outside of normal work hours, especially during emergencies and adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 years’ experience operating heavy equipment and trucks in construction or road maintenance, and a thorough knowledge of the operation of Class B CDL vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Must have valid Class B Massachusetts CDL and Class 2B Hoisting Engineers License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Applicants that currently possess the required licenses will be given first preference.
• Prior public works experience a plus.
• Residency within 30 minutes of the DPW Building preferred.

This is a Grade 13, Laborers International union position, $23.6962/hr-$29.5933/hr DOEQ; 40-hour workweek, M-F 7:00AM to 3:00PM; Excellent benefits.
