Job Summary

QLM is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for civil construction projects across the Carolinas. Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in mass earthwork, highway, commercial, or industrial site development. We are specifically seeking operators skilled in excavators, GPS-enabled dozers, loading trucks, and main line pipe installation.

Pay Range

$26-$28 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including:
  • Excavators (CAT 349, 335, 330) – with or without GPS
  • Dozers (D6, D5, D4) – with or without GPS
  • Loading trucks
  • Main line pipe installation equipment
• Perform site preparation, grading, trenching, and excavation for utility and infrastructure projects.
• Follow site plans, grade stakes, and GPS systems to ensure precision and efficiency.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Work closely with foremen and superintendents to meet project goals and timelines.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to OSHA standards.
• Assist with general labor and site tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction.
• Proficiency in mass earthwork, grading, trenching, and utility installation.
• Experience on highway, commercial, or industrial development projects.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Equipment-specific certifications are a major plus.
• Ability to read and follow site plans and GPS grading systems.
• Strong safety record and commitment to job site protocols.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between Charleston and Columbia.
