Position Description: Primary purpose is to assist other operators in the safe, efficient and quality-conscious unloading and loading of bulk and packaged commodities to or from vessel, railcars, trucks and storage facilities. Ensure the work performed meets or exceeds supervisor expectations and published policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Successful completion of specific, entry level tasks in warehousing, assisting operators in bulk material transfer, bagging and storage activities.
• Participation in safety and environmental training and attendance at daily briefings.
• Observation of company safety and operational procedures and policies; promptly report any unsafe conditions to management.
• Housekeeping of terminal grounds and basic maintenance of equipment.
• Perform other terminal functions as instructed by the supervisor.
• Must report to work on time as scheduled.

Position Requirements

Minimum requirements

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Experience / knowledge: One year of work experience required; experience in an industrial setting preferred.
• Previous experience operating industrial rolling equipment (e.g., front-end loader or forklift) preferred.
• Demonstrated good workplace attendance and safe, quality-conscious work performance.

Certifications, licenses, registrations

• Must meet criteria to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) as required by USCG/DHS regulations.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company insurability requirements.

Competencies, skills, and abilities

• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus on details and follow work rules.

Physical demands

• Stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs and ladders; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; frequently lift up to 50 pounds; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral; ability to adjust focus.
• Must meet medical criteria as defined by OSHA standards for respirator use.

Working conditions

• Daytime schedule with the possibility of extended hours, nights and weekends.
• 24-hour call-in availability.
• Tasks performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Requires working at heights and around industrial equipment, vessels, trucks, railcars and water.
• May be assigned to other company facilities within a 50-mile radius of the Tampa Bay Area.

Other responsibilities

• This position may perform other duties as assigned.
• Job level commensurate with experience and skill set.
