North Slope Borough is hiring: TEMPORARY - Heavy Equipment Operator in Utqiaġvik

All Borough employees who occupy positions where federal law mandates testing shall comply with the requirements of the federal regulations and will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.

Operates North Slope Borough heavy equipment; maintains roads, airports, and landfills.

Operate heavy equipment and other machinery in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

Maintain and clear roads, airport runways and access roads, and landfill areas.

Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to operations; complete shift inspection checklists.

Maintain vehicle logs, inspection forms, maintenance records, and daily trip reports.

Inspect and clean equipment and facilities; report maintenance needs and deficiencies to supervisor.

Load and unload aircraft with heavy equipment.

Must be polite and courteous to the public.

May be required to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, and may be subject to 24-hour on-call status.

Attend all required scheduled safety meetings.

Travel to villages as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies, and procedures.

Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in heavy equipment operation.

Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

High school diploma or G.E.D., or a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.

One year of experience with heavy equipment operations and maintenance.

Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
