Overview

The following job description is first and foremost a position of Skilled Laborer with Gerber Construction, Inc. We will require that you be able to do anything on this list, but other duties and responsibilities are not limited to this list. Perform duties on construction projects (usually working in a utility capacity) by transferring from one task to another where demands require workers with varied experiences and ability to work without close supervision.

Secondly this position is for a heavy equipment operator. You will be operating when operating is necessary and performing the duties of a skilled labor when operating is not in demand. This individual also needs to know the essentials of Equipment Maintenance and Rigging skills necessary for the job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Skilled Labor)

The following is a list of job requirements that Gerber Construction considers necessary to the position. We will require that you be able to do anything on this list, but other duties and responsibilities are not limited to this list.

• Experience in general construction hand signaling (crane/excavator)
• Has 6-12 months experience using shovels & picks properly, effectively & efficiently.
• Has 6-12 months experience of properly, effectively & efficiently operating mechanical hammers (chip to jack up to 90lbs).
• Has 6-12 months of commercial level re-bar tying experience.
• Has 6-12 months of experience in operating small power tools (saws, drills, grinders, concrete vibrators, etc.).
• Has 6-12 months of experience using hand tools (hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, tape measures, etc.).
• Has 6-12 months experience in assembling 4 to 8 foot concrete panels (weighing in excess of 100 pounds).
• Has 6-12 months experience erecting scaffolding properly, effectively & efficiently.
• Has 6-12 months experience of spreading concrete into hard-to-reach sections of forms using a rake or shovel. Can level concrete to specified depth and maintain a workable consistency.
• Has 6-12 months experience in properly, effectively & efficiently position, align and seal pipe sections.
• Has 6-12 months of experience using floats, trowels and screeds to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks or curbs.
• Has 6-12 months experience in shaping materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels and planes.
• Has 6-12 months experience cutting and shaping materials and fasten them together with nails, screws, etc.
• Has 6-12 months experience in preparing layouts, determine quantity, sizes, shapes and locations of reinforcing rods from sketches or oral instructions.
