Responsibilities
- Maintains equipment on a scheduled basis; maintains maintenance records.
- Grades ditches, elevations, drainage channels, sets culverts and finishes concrete work.
- Performs shop duties as needed.
- Assists with construction projects.
- Supervises a work crew on a project basis.
- Assists other employees with their duties; performs work of lower level positions as necessary.
- Held accountable for all equipment used and uniforms issued.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Minimum qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2 years job related experience as an Equipment Operator.
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License.
- Herbicide and Insecticide Certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Good driving skills and thorough knowledge of and ability to operate required heavy equipment.
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions and complete assignment in a timely fashion.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.10 - $25.13 per hour based on qualifications
