JOB SUMMARY

Performs technical and manual tasks in the operation of minor maintenance, and equipment checks of heavy equipment operated by the City. Performs related tasks as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Public Works field supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1. Follows well-established procedures and methods. Operates a bulldozer, front end loader, drag line compactor, motor grader, backhoe, scraper pan, roller, asphalt lay down machine, etc.

1. Operates equipment for such things as digging pits, pushing down trees, stockpiling gravel sand and dirt, cutting subgrade, landscaping, burning and burying waste materials, cleaning drainage channel, grading roads, mowing, etc.

1. Performs maintenance service and makes minor field repairs on equipment, ensures that equipment is secure at the end of each work shift.

1. Answers Duty Phone on nights, weekends, and holidays.

1. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED. Driving record must be such that employee is insurable to drive City vehicles. Requires a valid Texas CDL-B license. Texas Water Distribution Class C and Wastewater Collection Class III and Herbicide Applicators license preferred.
Two (2) years experience in similar area of employment or display proficiency in heavy equipment operation. Work related experience equal to acceptable proficiency levels in required knowledges. Skills and/or abilities are acceptable substitutes for the above specified education and experience requirements.
