Senior Hardware Engineer – Automotive Tech | $110–140k + Bonus

Join a fast-growing automotive tech company building high-performance embedded systems and electronics used by motorsport pros and performance tuners worldwide. From vehicle communication hardware to advanced data logging tools, you'll work on tech that connects directly to real engines and real drivers.

We’re hiring a Senior Hardware Engineer to own hardware projects from the ground up. You’ll design, prototype, and refine complex embedded systems in a collaborative, cross-functional R&D environment. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Buffalo Grove, IL. Relocation assistance available.

What You’ll Do

• Lead hardware projects end-to-end: from concept through to mass production
• Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and sourcing teams for system integration
• Create PCB schematics and layouts in Altium Designer
• Prototype, test, debug and validate high-speed embedded circuits
• Support board bring-up in partnership with firmware developers
• Create and maintain design documentation and specifications
• Source components and support manufacturing readiness
• Participate in design reviews and mentor junior engineers

What You’ll Need

• 5+ years of experience in hands-on embedded hardware development
• Experience developing microcontroller/microprocessor-based systems
• Strong prototyping, testing, and debugging skills with oscilloscopes and logic/protocol analyzers
• Deep understanding of signal integrity, impedance control, and high-speed design practices
• Ability to break down technical requirements into tasks and work to project timelines
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Bonus: Experience with circuit simulation tools and automotive protocols (OBD-II, CAN, etc.)
