Insight Global is hiring: Hardware Engineer V in Sunnyvale

Overview

Insight Global is looking for a Hardware Engineer to join one of the world’s leading technology companies in Sunnyvale, CA. This role is part of the Reality Labs organization focusing on next-generation Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality. The main function is to research, design, develop, and test high-density, wearable electronics.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve plan layout, including creating new designs and modifications of existing designs.
• Review and approve product prototypes, working models, or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
• Write detailed functional specifications and design flow/tradeoffs.
• Support new technology introduction.
• Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and the operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
• Provide training and support to system designers and users.
• Design and develop hardware and support peripherals, including SoC, support logic, microprocessors, custom ICs, and system interconnection.
• Direct technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel as needed.

Required skills and experience

• High density rigid/flex board design and system integration experience.
• Hands-on lab skills. Rapid prototyping with available resources. Can-do attitude.
• Ability to drive projects with high ambiguity, multiple paths, and fuzzy future to clarity.
• Understanding of core tech areas such as SoC, sensor, wireless, audio, display, interfaces (USB, MIPI, PCIe, SPI, I2C). Capable of designing, bringing up and evaluating projects from those areas.
• Embedded software basics. Comfortable looking into software logs/code.
• Use automation to help the team improve project quality and scale to more projects.
