Responsibilities
- Embedded Hardware & Optical Imaging: Develop and integrate IR camera modules (including lenses, filters, sensors) on SoC platforms with FPGA. Lead firmware development on the SoC’s microcontroller for device control, data collection, and peripheral interfaces.
- System-on-Chip (SoC) & FPGA Firmware: Create and maintain real-time FPGA firmware using VHDL/Verilog for signal processing tasks. Write microcontroller firmware to coordinate sensor data, structured light generation, and trigger management. Collaborate with external vendors to optimize PCB designs ensuring compliance with performance and regulatory requirements. Tune and customize Linux running on an external high-performance computer for minimal latency and efficient data streaming. Manage robust data communication between embedded systems and client applications or robotic platforms.
- High-Speed Data Interfaces: Develop and implement communication protocols (Ethernet, USB, PCIe, or custom) for embedded-to-host data exchange. Plan for future medical-grade embedded designs emphasizing secure, low-latency data paths for 3D imaging.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, mechatronics teams, and partners to integrate SoC/FPGA solutions into broader systems. Offer hardware insight to support software design and diagnostics.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Conduct hardware validation, verification, and risk analysis according to ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 standards. Maintain comprehensive design documentation aligned with medical device quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical, computer, optical engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years experience with embedded hardware design on SoC/FPGA platforms.
- Proficient in FPGA firmware development (VHDL/Verilog) and microcontroller programming for sensor control.
- Experienced with IR imaging systems, including optics and calibration.
- Knowledgeable in high-speed data hardware and protocols such as Ethernet, USB, PCIe, FMC.
- Skilled in optimizing Linux environments for real-time, data-intensive applications.
- Comfortable managing vendor relationships and board-level design reviews.
- Familiar with medical device standards including ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and ISO 62304.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in optical metrology, IR spectroscopy, or advanced imaging systems.
- Expertise in high-speed signal integrity analysis and hardware debugging tools.
- Experience integrating robotic systems, including knowledge of ROS or industrial communication protocols.
- Previous startup experience with the ability to adapt quickly and multitask effectively.
Work Schedule
Hybrid model with mandatory office presence on Monday, Wednesday, Friday; optional remote work on Tuesday and Thursday.
