In this role, Product Hardware Design Manager – Displays you will be responsible for executing Display Hardware Design, Validation, and Release throughout the life cycle of a product. You will lead Hardware Engineering Team and work with cross functional teams (Layout, Mechanical Engineering, Software, Semiconductor) to deliver a quality product on time. You will work with the leading display panel suppliers across varying display technologies and build a display module for GM vehicles.
You will effectively achieve program milestones by thorough and effective program management. You will coach and lead a team of electrical hardware engineers.
I am seeking a high performing manager to develop winning execution strategies, oversee solutions, resolve issues, and deliver continuous improvement for Displays in GM vehicles considering quality, cost, and timing.
Responsibilities
Oversee and guide a team of electrical hardware designers, provide technical direction, assign tasks, and ensure productivity and efficiency.
Mentor and Coach Hardware Engineers, support career growth
Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware designs into the overall product.
Lead embedded designs for advanced module architectures.
Lead new IC design/development strategy for advanced in-vehicle architectures
Lead electrical schematic design and PCB layout
Assess feasibility of proposed electrical hardware designs considering cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Support next generation designs for bringing current and future display panel technologies like LCD, OLEDs to GM vehicles
Perform/review electrical worst-case analysis
Represent the GM hardware team as design expert in core technologies developed among the team
Optimize five-point parametric tests and finalize end-of-line production tests
Lead the process as a build-to-print engineer and liaison with the contract house
Apply cost-effective solutions with improved performance design
Lead product development as part of a multi-hub engineering organization based in Detroit and West Coast
Refine/optimize requirements with MPG team
Maintain Display Hardware Design deliverables, e.g., Block Diagram, Schematics, PCB layout
Lead Peer Reviews and identify issues (e.g., integration, interfaces, systemic issues)
Support Engineering Change Requests (ECR) of Displays
Support Assembly Plant issue resolution
Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting activities to support PRTS Issue Resolution
Support Product Investigations (SFI Process)
Lead Cost Reduction
Provide guidance to Design Release Engineers (DREs) in product development team meetings
Create and maintain Best Practices
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within Displays team and across other SMTs
Collaborate with Display TS, Electric Power (Sub)system TS, and Safety
Ensure all vehicle Program Imperatives (piece cost, investment, mass, base engineering content & IPTV) are met
Work with DRE/Validation group to set up a plan for a component validation plan (includes component software verification) and ensure timely execution
Participate in Formal Design, Peer and Quality Valve reviews as required by the Vehicle Development Process (VDP)
Develop/Review/Approve all In-process Electrical test plans
Support vehicle integration activity for pre-production and production vehicles
Lead/participate in issue resolution for design and development issues, ECU warranty analysis, parts restriction and report updates as required to Engineering and Vehicle Team leadership
Lead/support DFMEA/PFMEA of Displays
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Masters degree preferred
Professional experience creating digital/analog HW interfaces including schematic creation and/or PCB layout & supportive documentation
Minimum 10+ years working experience in automotive hardware electronics design
Experience with display technologies, SERDES, TCONs, TDDIs and other key design components and future key semiconductor component roadmaps
In-depth knowledge of requirements engineering processes (FMEA, Preliminary Hazard Analyses)
In-depth knowledge of verification and validation processes
In-depth knowledge of embedded software development, testing and associated tools
Understanding of hardware design and failure modes
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
Thorough knowledge of design development and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures
Highly developed oral and written communications skills
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within Electrical and across other SMTs
Demonstrated problem solving ability
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
Very high level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
Preferred Qualification
Experience in design & analysis tools like Mentor Graphics (schematic & layout), MathCad, PSpice & Saber is strongly preferred
Previous industry experience with display technologies

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
The expected base compensation for this role is: $168,000 - $258,800. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
