Overview
Software/Hardware Project Manager, Senior - ( ADV000B41 ). We are launching people to the Moon and Mars. This role supports NASA programs through the COMET contract, providing management for ground systems, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida, and supporting the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and Space Launch System programs.
The Project Manager will lead cross‑functional teams, coordinate software and hardware development projects, and ensure timely and high‑quality delivery across the Command-and-Control Directorate. The candidate will oversee development from concept to completion and possess a deep understanding of both software and hardware processes, coupled with strong leadership and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and manage all aspects of a project, including budget forecasting and work estimation.
- Manage project performance, scope, schedule, budget, risks, and change management.
- Develop project schedules and resource loading to reflect the full lifecycle of the project.
- Assist with preparation of project artifacts (planning artifacts, status reports, briefs, etc.).
- Schedule, facilitate, and document project team meetings.
- Participate in management planning; continuously improve operations and align goals and plans.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in computer or system science, information technology, engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution, with at least ten (10) years of direct progressive project management experience in software and hardware development and operations environments. Additional relevant education may substitute part of the experience.
- Depending on experience, requirements, and business needs, candidates at any level may be considered for this position.
- PMP or other relevant project management certification is highly desired.
- Strong experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools (JIRA, MS Project, etc.).
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycles and hardware manufacturing processes.
- Experience in hardware/software development, systems engineering, and project management in an aerospace environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with embedded systems, IoT, and integrated software-hardware products is desirable.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment across multiple projects, meeting or exceeding schedule expectations.
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple project disciplines; self-motivated and capable of independent work with minimal supervision.
- U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card required if offered a position.
Physical Requirements
- May require climbing stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting; PPE (hearing and eye protection) may be required.
- Extended periods of sitting or standing; building access to remote structures; hazardous testing facility environment with emergency evacuation considerations.
- Position may involve travel to different site areas; may require walking on uneven terrain and climbing ladders or platforms.
- All work must conform to NASA and company safety standards.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Work may occur inside and outside across the test complex; travel may be required to support position requirements, including potential airline travel.
