Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer - Hardware (Onsite) role at Collins Aerospace. This position is onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA. DoD Clearance: Secret. U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance.

What YOU Will Do

  • Perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration.
  • Design, document, verify, support, test and troubleshoot digital hardware for communication products using electrical engineering principles and techniques. Designs may include FPGA, processors, DDR memory, and interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of engineers to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications.
  • Help deliver quality next generation hardware products that meet evolving needs and deadlines, contributing to program goals.

  • Gain hands-on experience with technologically advanced communication/radio hardware in production.
  • Broaden knowledge for leadership, promotions, and direct interfacing with customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 5 years of experience or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with digital electronics including processors, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR, and flash memories.
  • Experience with schematic capture tools (examples: Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD).
  • Experience with generating Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and overseeing routing and layout of circuit card designs.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with signal integrity and timing analyses for robust circuit card designs.
  • Hands-on experience testing circuit card assemblies and performing design verification.
  • Experience with Agile development methods and JIRA for hardware tasks.
  • Project management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
