What To Expect
As a Hardware Product Manager, you will define and commercialize product offerings for Megapack, our B2B utility-scale energy storage solution. You will leverage your expertise to develop market and product requirements needed to deliver industry-leading products. You will also be a key technical member of a cross-functional Product Management team that also supports the ongoing development of technical content for sales, finance, and engineering teams for Tesla’s industrial energy products.
As a member of the Product Management team, you will wear many hats in a fast-paced environment. This is a multi-faceted role requiring strong knowledge of commercial and engineering topics (electrical, mechanical, systems). Energy and/or product management experience is highly desired. Members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a shifting technology landscape.
What You\'ll Do
- Leverage market research, competitive diligence and customer feedback to define product vision and strategy
- Create business cases and market & product requirements to inform the product roadmap priorities
- Define and commercialize offerings into standardized, sellable products to ensure successful product launches and customer success, working closely with cross-functional teams across the engineering and commercial organizations
- Develop and drive implementation of technical content (technical documentation, marketing collateral, Independent Engineering reports) to provide internal and external parties with information on product topics related to performance, safety, installation, features, grid code, safety compliance, and more
- Act as primary stakeholder for education of critical product features for internal teams, AHJs and officials (PUCs, fire departments, utilities, etc)
- Optimize industrial project margins through techno-economic modeling and assessment of product capabilities
- Always look for opportunities to improve processes and support growth
What You\'ll Bring
- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in product management or in the energy industry, preferably in the energy storage technology space; experience with launching new products or offerings is required
- Strong blend of engineering (electrical, mechanical) and commercial expertise
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Ability to execute many projects in parallel across many teams in a short timeframe, with demonstrated ability to pivot rapidly
- Knowledge of renewable energy policies and regulations (e.g., product safety and compliance) is highly desired
- Deep passion for changing the way we use energy on the electric grid

Compensation
Expected Compensation: $128,000 - $228,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an offer of employment is made.
