We are looking for an automotive Senior Hardware Desing Engineer – Thermal Systems. If you’re the kind of person who sees a problem, develops a solution, and engineers an improvement no one’s asked for yet, then we want to talk with you!
The Role:
- Use engineering principles to design parts and assemblies and subsystems for automotive thermal system.
- Develop conceptual packaging models for various thermal components including heat exchangers, fans and blowers, fluid transfer lines, airflow channels, support brackets, etc.
- Integrate components into larger mechanical subsystems to reduce vehicle assembly part count and assembly time.
- Work with other engineering teams and suppliers to review design solutions and guide design changes, ensure packaging compliance (vehicle clearances) and various performance attributes like thermal, software compliance, NVH, mass are all met.
- Own, drive, and confirm design improvement changes with help from Programs, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience creating complex CAD models (CATIA V6 preferred) quickly and efficiently.
- Experience generating 2D drawings fully defining engineering requirements.
- Knowledge of GD&T and how it applies to part, assembly, and customer requirements.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals such as fluid flow, thermals, strength & stiffness of materials.
- 4-6 years relevant design & engineering experience (new grads: Formula SAE or similar experience will be considered).
- Excellent work ethic, well-developed teamwork and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of working as a member of a cross-functional team.
Preferred:
- Prior experience taking initiative and ownership of large-scope projects.
- Knowledge of key performance characteristic of pumps, fans, heat exchangers.
- Experience running commercial CAE software (CFD and/or Structural)
- Proficient at creating complex parts and assemblies including design knowledge of plastic parts or cast parts.
- Hand on experience repairing or maintaining vehicles.
Education:
- BS in ME/EE discipline
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
