The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As a Senior GNC Hardware Engineer, you will contribute to planning, selection, development, sourcing, and acceptance of GNC hardware for Blue Ring. In a fast-paced environment, you will play a crucial role in integrating and supporting new hardware for the Blue Ring program. You will work closely with GNC engineers and teams such as software, systems engineering, configuration & data management, and AI&T to ensure hardware components meet requirements and perform as expected. You will also troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues during AI&T.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the planning and coordination of resources for procuring, accepting, and integrating GNC components to support new technology insertions
  • Develop hardware, firmware, and software solutions for future vehicle designs
  • Provide input on state-of-the-art hardware and firmware technologies for integration initiatives
  • Support verification and testing to ensure GNC components and subsystems meet requirements
  • Collaborate on implementing software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, functional testing, and flight testing for multiple vehicles

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with test, flight, and safety-critical hardware
  • At least 7 years experience with spacecraft/satellite hardware development, ownership, or qualification/testing (e.g., IMUs, Star Trackers, GPS receivers, RWAs)
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with Matlab, LabView, Python, C++
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and requirements
  • Data analysis skills and ability to present technical information clearly
  • Ability to build trust and contribute to an inclusive culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GNC actuation systems like RWAs, CMGs, TVCs
  • Hands-on experience in test facilities, labs, or factories
  • Experience with HIL or SIL systems
  • Verification, validation, and testing experience for flight hardware/software
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Windchill)
  • Experience with thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, vacuum testing per MIL standards
  • Experience sourcing radiation-hardened components

Compensation ranges vary by location, e.g., CO: $139,979 - $195,969.90; WA: $152,235 - $213,127.95.
