Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, the Recruiter is an energetic professional who participates in all aspects of recruitment of prospective students in their assigned territory and for select outreach programs. The successful candidate must be able to share the benefits of an education from Gordon State College with various audiences to build relationships and affinity for GSC, while effectively meeting students\' needs and interests.
Responsibilities
- Travels to high schools, college fairs, and other locations to recruit prospective students.
- Prepares and delivers presentations and campus tours to prospective students, visitors, and other stakeholders.
- Serves as the primary contact for high school counselors within assigned territory.
- Attends counselor-focused and sponsored events across the state.
- Assists in planning and executing on-campus events for high school counselors.
- Participates in implementing communication strategies for counselors.
- Student Advising & Support
- Advises prospective students on academic programs, admissions policies, and procedures.
- Guides students in selecting majors aligned with their interests and career goals, ensuring applications accurately reflect choices.
- Refers students with specific learning and support needs to appropriate campus services.
- Connects special populations (e.g., veterans, adult learners) with tailored services and support.
- Recruitment Strategy & Campaigns
- Participates in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies.
- Completes outreach campaigns via email, phone calls, and text messages.
- Assists with planning, promoting, and executing yield events to support enrollment goals.
- Collaboration & Professional Engagement
- Assists with departmental initiatives and university-wide events.
- Represents the university on committees and in state and regional professional organizations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited institution.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver\'s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
- This role requires frequent travel, including some nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a higher education setting.
- Familiarity with Gordon State College and its academic programs.
- Experience in post-secondary enrollment services.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs, including Banner and CRM.
- Knowledge of admissions policies including freshmen, transfer, access institute, and learning support requirements.
- Skill in information analysis, decision making, and problem solving.
- Skill in the provision of customer services to applicants and students.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Aptitude for navigating information systems and interpretating data.
