HR Generalist Overview
The Human Resources Generalist is a vital member of the People Team, responsible for providing comprehensive HR support across key functional areas including employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, HR compliance, performance management, and employee engagement programs. Reporting to the Chief HR Officer, this role acts as a knowledgeable resource for employees and people leaders, ensuring consistent and effective HR processes while contributing to a positive employee experience. HR Generalist Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and employee programs.
- Manage full-cycle onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless employee experience and accurate systems updates.
- Oversee benefits administration activities including enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee education.
- Provide first-line employee relations support, and HR policy interpretation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS and personnel files, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support HR compliance initiatives including required labor postings, EEO reporting, I-9 audits, and other documentation.
- Partner with the HRBP to support company-wide employee engagement programs, DE&I initiatives, wellness activities, and culture-building events.
- Track, analyze, and report on HR metrics such as turnover, headcount, and engagement survey participation.
- Prepare HR-related communications, documentation, and reports for both internal and external audiences.
HR Generalist Requirements
- 3–5 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, coordinator, or business partner capacity.
- Solid understanding of HR fundamentals including benefits administration, onboarding, employee relations, and HR compliance.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with employees and managers by offering practical guidance and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with HRIS systems (e.g., BambooHR, Paylocity, or equivalent); familiarity with SaaS tools a plus.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
