Do you love working in an academic environment? Do you love assisting people and providing excellent customer service? Shaw University is looking for a Full Time Human Resources Representative. Reporting to HR Director, the Human Resources Representative handles the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office. The HR Representative is directly involved in the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Processes benefits and leaves of absences, including participation in benefits administration, claims resolution, workers’ compensation, FMLA, and short-term/long-term disability; distribution of annual employee notices as required; and assisting with benefits reporting requirements.
  • Assists with performance management and improvement systems.
  • Assists in resolving employee relations issues.
  • Ensures employment and regulatory compliance and reporting.
  • Assists with employee onboarding, development, and training processes.
  • Facilitates New Employee Orientation.
  • Documents HR processes.
  • Files documentation and maintains records.
  • Handles company employee communications related to HR concerns.
  • Handles paperwork and questions related to compensation and benefits administration.
  • Assists with employee safety, welfare, wellness and health initiatives.
  • Maintains HRIS system.
  • Other duties as assigned by the HR Director.

Education and/or Experience

  • A minimum of three to five years of recent and related experience OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with digital technology, social media, and HRIS software.
  • Detail oriented with strong written, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web searches.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record as defined by Shaw; PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

Education

Preferred

Bachelor’s or better in Human Resource Administration or related field.

Experience

Preferred

  • 1-3 years: Human Resources.
  • 3-5 years: Higher Education preferred.
