STARS - Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services is seeking an HR Generalist to join the Human Resources team!
POSITION PURPOSE:
The HR Generalist will have a key role in the agency's HR needs and the implementation of best practices to support HR objectives. This position reports to the Director of Operations and is a key member of the HR department and organizational partner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruiting and lead onboarding new team members.
- Facilitate new hire orientation.
- Maintain certifications tracking and training requirements for all team members.
- Assist in coordinating company employee engagement activities like reward/recognition programs.
- Coordinate and prepare reports for the management team such as employee PTO accrued time, sick, compensation, etc.
- Correspond with the unemployment insurance offices on requests for information and participate in telephonic hearings, as necessary.
- Act as a liaison between employees and management to answer questions, provide advice, and interpret company policies, practices, and regulations.
- Assist with employee relations, performance management, leadership coaching, progressive discipline guidance, policy implementation, conflict resolution, etc.
- Identify and recommend policy or procedural changes as part of STARS Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining employee benefits files and information, group benefits database, and updating employee payroll records.
- Conduct periodic analysis of employee classifications to ensure compliance with FLSA regulations.
- Assist in gathering information to submit various surveys such as DDD reporting.
- Collaborate with HR management to develop and deliver an employee satisfaction survey.
- Partner in creating job descriptions in collaboration with management.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.

- Ability to interface and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of human resource administration, employment law, and legal concepts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of two years' experience in an HR-related position required; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
- Experience navigating and effectively handling employee relations.
- Experience in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Working knowledge of basic state and federal employment laws applicable.
- HR certification preferred but not required.
- Must meet DES requirements for fingerprint clearance.
- Must pass a criminal/background screening.
