The HR & Finance Assistant supports both the Human Resources and Finance functions of the company, providing day-to-day assistance, compliance tracking, employee engagement support, and financial recordkeeping for assigned locations. This role reports to the HR Director and collaborates closely with park HR Coordinators and the corporate finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and submit incident reports received from park locations.
  • Process wage garnishments, unemployment claims, and other compliance-related documentation.
  • Assist in updating and distributing company policies and procedures; track employee acknowledgements.
  • Maintain and update employee records in Paycor (HRIS), including certifications and employment data.
  • Conduct periodic compliance audits of employee files, certifications, I-9s, and training records.
  • Support HR Coordinators with recruiting tasks, background checks, and offer letters.
  • Provide direct HR support for the Quad Cities location, including recruiting, investigations, documentation, and employee relations.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, including open enrollment communications and enrollment changes.
  • Help coordinate offboarding processes, including exit paperwork and documentation.
  • Run HR metrics and reports (e.g., turnover, attendance, headcount, training completions) for leadership review.

Employee Engagement & Communication

  • Manage employee morale initiatives, including recognition programs and staff appreciation events.
  • Prepare and distribute the monthly employee newsletter.
  • Support the HR Director with employee engagement strategies across locations.
  • Help organize and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS).

Finance Support

  • Perform bookkeeping duties for 1–2 park locations, including expense tracking, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Collect, code, and prepare invoices from parks for corporate approval/payment.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual reports for labor and operating expenses as assigned.
  • Oversee reconciliation of petty cash and/or credit card purchases for assigned parks.
  • Provide the corporate finance team with organized and timely financial records.

Administrative & Project Support

  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for HR and finance documentation.
  • Assist with corporate projects such as policy rollouts, training initiatives, or audit preparation.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to streamline HR and finance workflows.
  • Support other corporate projects and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting/Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in HR, payroll, or finance support.
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS platforms (Paycor experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
