Job Title: Cashier/General Clerk – Front End

Starting rate of pay: $16.25/hr

Position summary: Provides customer service to our customers while operating a cash register to ring up various items in exchange for currency.

Job duties:

1. Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible during transactions
2. Assists customers while ringing up/weighing items for purchase
3. Bags like groceries together, while using the least number of bags
4. Checks for the bottom of the basket
5. Verify/balance register till at the beginning and end of shift
6. Accept/Verify/Process payment from customer in the form of cash, credit, debit, ebt, and check
7. Verify/Process WIC checks, purchase orders, merchandise certificates, and coupons
8. Check identification for tobacco and liquor purchases, as well as payment by credit card and check by following established company procedures
9. Register accuracy, knows/carries out proper register procedures to meet company performance standards, price integrity
10. Refills bag wells in front end, keeps workstation clean and organized by dusting, wiping, and sweeping area
11. Performs duties of a courtesy clerk
12. Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

Capabilities:

• Stand for long periods of time
• Carry up to 40 pounds, frequent motions of arms and hands to ring up and bag groceries
• Push and pull up to seven shopping carts during retrieval
• Use proper safety procedures
• Able to listen to directions and follow through independently
• Good communication and observation skills

Job Skills:

• Previous experience working with the public
• Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred
• Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products

Environment:

• Air-conditioned while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill
• Very fast-paced
