Responsibilities

An SP+ Cashier will create an efficient, stress-free, and enjoyable experience for each customer. This includes receiving payment from customers for parking services and facilitating the flow of traffic through the facility by performing the following duties:

  • Treat each customer with respect and kindness, ensuring each interaction delivers on the SP+ Promise of making every moment matter.
  • Be at work every scheduled day, on time, in uniform, and ready to assist customers.
  • Count the revenue bank at the beginning of the shift to ensure the starting total is correct.
  • Collect cash and/or validations and maintain security of cash.
  • Make change and issue receipts or tickets to customers for each transaction.
  • Compute or recompute the bill from the ticket showing amount due per customer.
  • Operate the cash register after time calculation (manually or by machine) and display the cost of the customer transaction.
  • Quote prices for parking services for which money is received upon customer receipt.
  • Give directions to city locations and assist customers, ensuring they get where they are going easily and efficiently.
  • Complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located.
  • Resolve customer complaints quickly and efficiently, asking a supervisor for assistance when needed.
  • Answer the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the booth and pick up trash in the surrounding area.
  • Conduct timely checks to verify inventory of necessary work aids and supplies located in the booth.
  • Verify log of shift transactions against the bank of revenue on hand.
  • Compile the bank of collected revenue during the day after a predetermined amount is collected.
  • Record amounts received, cars in/out of the facility, and cars left in a facility (if applicable) while preparing shift transaction reports.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: Less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Availability to Work: Special shift requirements vary by location. Availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends may be required.
  • License Requirement: A valid state-issued driver\'s license with current address and acceptable driving record if driving a company vehicle or conducting company business.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to make change.
  • Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and present information to customers, supervisors and other employees.
  • Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions; ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables.
  • Other skills and abilities: Ability to use a clock, calculator, or credit card machine to handle transactions; maintain a pleasant and mannerly demeanor when speaking on the telephone and with the public; effectively respond to customer problems or complaints.
  • Physical demands: Regularly sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms. Occasional walking and sitting. Close vision required.
  • Salary Range: $17.95 per hour.
