Job Purpose and Overview

The Janitor plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment at Alamance Foods. This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, including production areas, offices, restrooms, and common spaces. Our team members adhere to all sanitation standards established by IFS and Food Safety Policies, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and our Safety Policies.


What Does It Take to be a Janitor at Alamance Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

  • Previous janitorial experience
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Experience with GMP's, IFS Standards, understand HACCP programs


What will you do as a Janitor at Alamance Foods?

  • Completion of tasks in the appropriate amount of time.
  • Janitorial duties such as vacuum , empty trash, sweep and mop all areas, and dusting racking and dock area .
  • Sweeping and cleaning of the smoking area
  • Supply inventory of the Janitorial closet and the extra storage areas.
  • Deep cleaning and sanitizing racking in prep for IFS audit.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, plant policies and procedures.
  • Report malfunction of equipment immediately to supervisor.
  • Maintain work area to include the proper cleaning and storing of work tools and chemicals.
  • Facility upgrade work (as directed by the supervisor, production manager, or facility manager)
  • Adhere to the Food Defense and Security functions within the facility.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds or more.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including production areas, which may involve exposure to noise and temperature variations.

  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp, move, or utilize objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to use sensory perception for quality measurement of products.
  • Physical duties involved in performing this position include but are not limited to lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, bending, standing, crouching, reaching overhead and climbing.
  • Temperature fluctuates with the season – colder during the winter/warmer during the summer
  • Working around heavy machinery – Hearing protection and safety glasses are required in production area
