Responsibilities

  • Each Janitor will develop, with the Maintenance Manager, a routine cleaning schedule for offices, manufacturing building and any grounds area as assigned, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and servicing restrooms, and proper disposal of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with powered equipment.
  • Know each department location and leader to interface with routine scheduled cleaning.
  • Perform job duties with very little supervision.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, notify when to re-order, and use/dispose of products according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Be versed in plant safety procedures (Hazard Communication Program, MSDS, lifting and bending safety, accident prevention, PPE, bloodborne pathogens, electrical safety, evacuation routes, safe use of cleaning equipment, and wet floor/electrical cord safety).
  • May periodically perform work outside core duties (e.g., work on production line, breaking machines, monthly safety inspections of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, bug lights).
  • Must be able to obtain a valid forklift license, scissor lift, and operate overhead crane.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of janitorial service.
  • Ability to operate janitorial tools and supplies (floor buffers, vacuums, cleaners, solutions).
  • Knowledge of proper use and disposal of chemicals (may include fertilizers/pesticides).
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 35 pounds safely.
  • Ability to intermittently stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, twist, crouch, reach, and lower for extended periods.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to convey problems and receive work assignments.

Preferred Experience, Skills, & Abilities

  • High School Graduate or GED with one year of work experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and professionally.
