BASIC PURPOSE

The Janitor position involves washing, cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, wiping down, and dusting as instructed by Corps Officers to maintain cleanliness of the corps building, surrounding areas, and parking lot. Basic English communication ability is required.

The Custodial/Repair position will perform basic repair functions in shelter rooms, clean rooms as needed, wash and change linens, and perform light repair work in and around the Garden St shelter facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleaning of classrooms, offices, and bathrooms
• Sweeping and mopping of floors, removal of trash
• Cleaning of windows
• Performing necessary duties as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic English speaking ability
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
• Ability to perform assigned tasks as determined by the supervisor

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must be 21 years or older

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
• Ability to reach overhead
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
