Temporary Janitor (Bensonhurst Corps) Job at The Salvation Army in New York

Overview

The janitor (temp) will substitute the absent janitorial staff and perform all necessary janitorial and maintenance duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Substitute the janitorial staff’s responsibilities for the day and that includes the job duties below.
• Sweep and mop the floors
• Clean bathrooms and restock bathroom supplies
• Cleanliness of Dining Room area (wipe down tables, stacking chairs, gym equipment etc.)
• General Office Cleaning (Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, etc)
• Empty all garbage cans and dispose of all garbage
• Maintain cleanliness of the reception area and the donation area
• Assist in folding forks to prepare for next lunch
• Maintain cleanliness of the Computer Room and Music Room
• Wipe down front glass door and hand railing
• Record on the daily cleaning logs
• Other duties as assigned by the Administrator/Program Coordinator/Corps Officer
• Be flexible with work hours to accommodate special events or assigned tasks
• Able to work Monday-Friday within the hours of 9:00am-4:00pm as needed

Qualifications

• Good character and willing to work
• Must be physically able to lift heavy objects and follow safety procedures
• Must be able to speak and understand Chinese (preferable Cantonese)
• Ability to follow through with assigned tasks
• Can work well with others
