Position Title: Welder
Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group - Heil Environmental
Location: Fort Payne, AL
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Department: Operations
Shift: 2nd shift

Position Summary: This position is responsible for welding/assembling metal parts together in the manufacturing area.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and checks parts lists from department supervisors for parts to be welded/assembled daily.
  • Examines parts and measures dimensions for conformance to blueprints specifications using tape measure.
  • Prepares parts for welding by cleaning grease or corrosion and addressing holes, bubbles, or cracks.
  • Camps broken metal parts together with jig/vice and welds pieces using gas-welding process according to metal type and thickness.
  • Receives parts from Fabrication Department and welds into sub-assemblies; welds sub-assemblies into final products.
  • Visually inspects parts during welding to ensure quality.
  • Records and maintains inventory of parts used on lines daily.
  • Completes inspection form on products and submits to Technical Service Department.
  • Manually transports metal parts up to 40 pounds to/from storage area daily.
  • Performs minor maintenance on welding equipment (changing tips, gas diffusers, gas lines, rollers, etc.).
  • Observes all safety regulations and reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge: Ability to understand general arithmetic; write clearly; understand verbal or written instructions; read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC-based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
  • Mental: Normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time.
  • Physical: Walking/standing approximately 70%; lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15%; repetitive overhead work ~10%; repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching ~5%.
  • Manual Dexterity: Use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; operate manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, drills, and hand tools; record written information.
  • Audible Demands: Ability to follow verbal instructions and hear for safety purposes.
  • Visual: Ability to observe essential functions and safety; depth perception required.
  • Environmental: Exposure to plant environments with dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures.
