Director of Construction at Leap Brands
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Construction to lead all construction and development projects for our growing Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) group. This role will oversee the full lifecycle of new restaurant development, remodels, and special projects—from site evaluation and design through construction and opening. The Director of Construction will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of restaurant construction, including new builds, remodels, and refresh projects.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Conduct site evaluations in partnership with real estate and operations teams to assess feasibility and constructability.
- Supervise general contractors, architects, engineers, and third-party vendors to maintain quality and compliance.
- Develop and maintain construction standards, specifications, and best practices for the brand.
- Create and manage construction budgets, cost estimates, and forecasts for all projects.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to maximize cost efficiency.
- Track project performance against budget and timelines, providing regular updates to executive leadership.
- Partner with Development, Real Estate, and Operations teams to align construction schedules with growth objectives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to internal project managers and construction staff.
- Act as the primary liaison between contractors, landlords, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure operational readiness at turnover, coordinating with operations and training for successful openings.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Implement consistent quality assurance processes to uphold brand integrity and operational efficiency.
- Proactively identify risks and resolve issues to minimize delays and cost overruns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- 8+ years of construction and project management experience, with at least 5 years in multi-unit restaurant, retail, or hospitality development.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously, including new builds and remodels.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, permitting, and vendor/contractor management.
- Excellent negotiation, budgeting, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel frequently across assigned regions.
