Overview
Sr. Shipping and Receiving Technician - Couch Cafeteria (252139).
Location: University of Oklahoma Norman Campus. Schedule: Full-time, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with evenings or weekends as necessary. Onsite work. Salary: Targeted salary $15.00/hr based on experience. Benefits provided. Essential personnel: may be required to work during University closures and inclement weather.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for shipping, receiving, delivery and storage of various materials following established standards for a full-service restaurant.
- Maintain inventory and par levels in storerooms, production areas, and walk-in units; keep areas clean and organized.
- Unload pallets of inventory to approved locations throughout the restaurant; store and rotate food products; complete accurate inventory counts.
- Deliver supplies and/or materials using university vehicles; assist with lifting and moving equipment as needed.
- Maintain good working relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Support all areas of the restaurant while adhering to the core purpose and core values of Food Services.
- Report to the Shipping/Receiving Coordinator and the Executive Chef.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED, AND 12 months experience in shipping and receiving.
Skills:
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Read and understand written or printed materials
- Use correct grammatical structure and vocabulary
- Basic word processing
- Build and maintain rapport with customers and work team
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with generating Word documents, navigating/editing Excel files, and receiving/processing/responding to emails
Certifications:
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Forklift operator license (may be required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
Working Conditions:
- Physical and mental perseverance for fast-paced and demanding responsibilities
- Exposure to greasy/dirty materials, slippery floors, campus movement between buildings, walk-in refrigeration units
- Frequent and repetitive arm and wrist movement
- Exposure to chemicals and noxious odors
- Ability to lift up to 56 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs
- Must pass POET; ability to stand/walk for long periods in a large kitchen with temperatures from -8 to 80 degrees F
- Climb stairs and, depending on assignment, ladders
- As essential personnel, may be required to work during University closings
- Nights and weekends may apply for certain operations, including 24/7 operations
- Hepatitis A vaccine required
Department Preferences:
- 12+ months experience in a storeroom
- Experience managing food item inventory and delivering products
- Familiarity with pallet jacks, First In First Out inventory usage
