Job Overview

Under general direction, responsible for various waste and recycling operations and maintenance functions on the premises of DFW Airport as determined by Waste and Recycling Management. Responsibilities include inspecting all compactors staging areas on the Airfield Operations Area (AOA), vehicles used in transporting waste and recycling, performing maintenance of equipment, ensuring no Foreign Object Debris or wildlife attractions are left on the AOA during waste removal, and participating in winter weather operations.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Operate a variety of heavy and light-duty waste and recycling equipment on and off the AOA with a valid CDL Class "B" license.
  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and refurbish waste containers, compactors, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with contractors, tenants, and customers to ensure efficient waste/recycling services.
  • Prepare reports for equipment maintenance, customer billing, and operational tracking.
  • Collaborate with other departments on waste and recycling initiatives across the airport.
  • Direct contractors to repair sites, monitor security at compactor sites, and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Participate in environmental outreach programs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Drive to various locations on and off airport property and perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience operating Class "B" or higher CDL vehicles.
  • Valid Class B or higher CDL license.
  • No recent convictions for Class "B" misdemeanors or greater offenses.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug, medical, and physical tests.

What We Desire

  • Two years of experience in waste equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Multilingual abilities.

Special Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a SIDA Airport ID badge within 30 days of employment.
  • Pass drug and alcohol screenings as this is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Must be available as an essential employee during emergencies and weather events.
  • Complete required training within 30 days of assignment.
