Johnson Service Group, a national award-winning staffing company, is currently hiring an experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer. The primary focus of this position will be to serve as a Senior Engineer or Project Manager for a variety of municipal water and wastewater projects. Expanding into Utah’s water market is a key focus, and this role will involve marketing these skills to current and potential clients. This is a direct hire opportunity in the Salt Lake City, Utah area.

Salary: $185K. Must be able to work a 9/80 schedule.

Position Responsibilities

This role requires expertise in water/wastewater engineering projects, including water system conveyance design, water system storage, sanitary conveyance design (gravity and pumped systems), hydraulic modeling analysis, feasibility studies, master plans, engineering and construction plans, specifications, estimates, and coordination with regulatory agencies for permitting.

• Work in a flexible, team-oriented environment and contribute to the growth of our Water and Environmental Business Unit in Utah.
• Plan, design, and lead municipal water/wastewater systems and facilities.
• Serve as a Project Manager or engineer of record, collaborating with support professionals such as drafters, EITs, GIS technicians, and technical editors.
• Mentor entry-level staff.
• Interface with clients and public agencies.
• Assist in business development, including professional organization engagement, proposal preparation, and interviews.

Basic Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer in UT.
• 10+ years of municipal utilities design experience.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD; GIS is a plus.
• Technical report writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Utah water conservation districts, public work departments, and regulatory agencies.
