Overview
Waste & Water Environmental Engineer role at INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA. Location: Chocolate Bayou Works – Alvin, TX. The position is responsible for waste and water regulatory compliance management at the CBW facility, including managing and improving the site waste, drinking water, and wastewater compliance and permitting programs, providing regulatory guidance, and enhancing the environmental excellence culture at the site.
Responsibilities
- Accountability 1 – All INEOS employees: Understand and implement the INEOS 20 Principles; champion the INEOS 20 Principles across SHE goals and work processes.
- Accountability 2 – Water & Wastewater Management: Maintain a TPDES permit for industrial wastewater, MSGP for rail operations, and a PWS-NTNC permit for potable water. Prepare permit applications or amendments, oversee sampling, reporting and recordkeeping for site water permits.
- Accountability 3 – Waste Management: Oversee site waste contractor activities, update Waste NOR, perform waste sampling and characterization, manage RCRA compliance for the site’s closed landfill, and support spill response efforts.
- Accountability 4 – General: Develop and implement environmental systems for compliance with EPA and TCEQ permits; provide guidance to Operations, Maintenance/Utilities, and other site groups; support environmental aspects of turnaround and construction projects; participate in audits and provide innovative, cost-effective compliance solutions; coordinate training; review processes for environmental compliance; provide water and waste management support to operations; investigate permit excursions and implement corrective actions; communicate with regulatory agencies during investigations and negotiations; review new chemical approvals for waste, water, and TRI impacts; manage UST, SWPPP, SPCC, and other ongoing environmental programs; participate in PHA/HAZOP as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering/technical discipline; advanced degrees may be considered for relevant experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 3+ years in-plant experience; background in permitting, compliance and reporting for water and/or waste programs in petrochemical or refinery industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Olefins and/or Polymers manufacturing experience is beneficial.
- RCRA 24-hour training / 8-hour refresher training
- DOT Hazmat trained
- Class D water operator license
